Sunny smiles, glowing faces, and the warmth of friends and supporters, overshadowed the overcast skies and cold temperatures, as another successful Children of Persia Walk for Children filled the streets of Bethesda.

Unseasonably wet and cold weather on October 2, 2011, did not keep a large enthusiastic crowd of well wishers, families, businesses, and the general public from attending Children of Persia’s 8th Annual Walk-4-Children in downtown Bethesda, Maryland. The event started at 11:00 am under cloudy skies, but by the 1:00 pm Walk start time a cheerful crowd of children and their families gathered to take a healthy walk around downtown Bethesda, showing their support for Children of Persia’s efforts to relieve the plight of the Street and Working Children of Iran. The fun and festive street festival went until 4 pm. The entertainment program, once again led by skilled DJ’s from Exclusively Entertainment, included live dance performances by the talented dancers from Born 2 Dance Studio and the Nomad Dancers and a magic show by Josh Norris: Modern Day Magician, Skillful co-masters of ceremony, Nazanin Nour, and Ali Zinat engaged the crowd through various activities. Everyone danced to a great selection of music by the talented DJ’s Saam, Barobax, Pedram and Shahrooz. Great food and snacks were provided by Children of Persia’s own bake sale, Kabob Bazaar, and Friends of Children of Persia. The grand prize, an Apple iPad2, was raffled off at 3:00 pm. Many local artists and vendors set out their wares at our promenade of Arts and Crafts. We were fortunate to have many new artists from Maryland and Virginia. Our young supports from the local Iranian schools ran our Children’s activities; including face painting, balloon making, Henna Tattoo, Lemonade stand, and sports.

Thanks to the overwhelming support of our sponsors, volunteers, vendors and walk participants, we met our goal to raise over $45,000 towards Children of Persia’s Street and Working Children program in Iran as well as its other charitable programs and activities. We are encouraged by the genuine support and enthusiasm of our community for this walk and for the cause it supports.

THANK YOU ALL
